Three killed, two critically injured in late-night Slaton shooting

Lubbock’s Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating a late-night shooting in Slaton that left three people dead and two others critically injured, according to local authorities.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist the Slaton Police Department after a 911 call was received at approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday. The call reported multiple gunshot victims in the 300 block of East Floyd Street, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released early Monday.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found three individuals who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Two additional people were located with gunshot injuries and were transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital. Authorities said the injured individuals were listed in critical condition at the time of transport but have since been stabilized.

Investigators indicated that there is no continuing danger related to the incident. “At this time, there is no on-going threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office stated. The statement added that preliminary findings suggest the incident may have involved a single shooter. “The initial investigation indicated one of the deceased parties was the shooter.”

Details about what led up to the shooting, the relationships between those involved, and the specific circumstances at the residence were not immediately available. Officials also did not release the identities or ages of the victims, pending notification of next of kin and further investigation.

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, which handles major criminal investigations across Lubbock County, has taken the lead on the case. Investigators are continuing to process the scene, gather evidence, and interview witnesses to determine a clearer timeline of events.

Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
