Lisa DeVries has announced her candidacy as the Republican contender for Potter County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, emphasizing experience, continuity, and public service as central themes of her campaign. DeVries said her goal is to maintain the office’s long-standing reputation for fairness, efficiency, and accessibility for all members of the community.
DeVries brings 18 years of service with the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, including the past six years working in the arraignment room. In that role, she has coordinated and observed hearings ranging from Municipal Court to District Courts, providing her with firsthand knowledge of courtroom procedures and the daily operations of the local justice system. Her background has shaped her understanding of the justice process and the responsibilities associated with serving the public at the ground level.
A licensed peace officer, DeVries also holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She stated that her campaign centers on professionalism, consistency, and integrity in the administration of justice. DeVries said she is prepared to provide steady leadership and to uphold the standards residents of Precinct 1 have come to expect from the office.
