Six-Week detour set for Country Club Road drainage upgrade

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office announced a six-week detour beginning January 20 to accommodate storm drainage system upgrades on Country Club Road.

Randall County Road & Bridge crews will begin work east of I-27 near the BNSF Railway Crossing, removing existing culverts and guardrail fencing. The upgrade will feature five new concrete box culverts, each measuring 6 feet tall by 10 feet wide, spanning 50 feet across the storm channel. A new guardrail fence will also be installed.

Officials said the improvements aim to alleviate dangerous flooding conditions that have previously made the creek crossing hazardous during storms.

Drivers will be detoured via Rockwell, Western, White Fence Road, and Palo Duro Club Road. Homes between the creek and railway will maintain access from I-27, though the creek crossing on Country Club Road will remain closed during the project.

The detour and construction are expected to last through early March.
