Interview with Blair Schaffer, Potter County Commissioner Pct. 3

Blair Schaffer grew up in Amarillo, Texas, where he learned the value of hard work and treating everyone with respect. A proud student of Hamlet Elementary, Horace Mann Jr. High, and Palo Duro High School, Blair went on to pursue a career in public service through firefighting and earned his EMT Intermediate certification.

With over 100 years of family roots in Potter County, Blair’s commitment to community runs deep. He and his wife, Blanca—his “ride or die” and greatest supporter—believe that family is everything, and those values guide him in both life and leadership.

Blair has proudly served with the Amarillo Fire Department for many years and continues to serve today. His professional journey also includes business ownership, where he enjoyed building teams and finding solutions that strengthen Amarillo.

Inspired to run for office by his desire to bring solutions to his community, Blair has worked tirelessly as County Commissioner. He has hosted quarterly town hall meetings to stay connected with residents, advocated for improvements like the SE 3rd underpass, and served on committees and boards such as TIRZ 2, focused on revitalizing and beautifying the precinct. He also played a role in selecting new software to improve efficiency across Potter County’s HR, auditing, and purchasing systems.

As Commissioner for Precinct 2, Blair leads with simple, relatable principles and a forward-looking vision: more revitalization within neighborhoods, stronger infrastructure, and growth and prosperity for all of Potter County.

Above all, Blair wants his constituents to know that he loves serving Precinct 2 and is always available to listen whenever a concern arises.
