TEXAS Opens 60th Season Tonight

The iconic TEXAS Outdoor Musical will celebrate opening night of its 2026 season on June 11 at the Pioneer Amphitheater in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The performance runs from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and officials are encouraging attendees to take advantage of the 60th Season VIP Bundle and Centennial Route 66 VIP Bundle. Dogie Days Returns to Dumas for 79th Year

The Dumas Noon Lions Club is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors for the 79th annual Dogie Days celebration at McDade Park. The event runs Wednesday through Saturday and features carnival rides, food vendors, a community barbecue and the traditional parade. Carnival rides open nightly at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, with $25 wristbands available each evening. Saturday's parade begins at 11 a.m., followed by the opening of the midway and booths at noon. Organizers will also draw the winning ticket for a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 Saturday, and winners do not need to be present. Barbecue will be served Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with tickets available online through the Dogie Days website.

Teen Arrested in Memorial Park Shooting

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Memorial Park in Amarillo and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Amarillo police responded to reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of South Washington and found a victim injured on a basketball court. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. The shooting is the second reported at an Amarillo park this week.

Wrong-Way Driver Hits DPS Patrol Vehicle

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper escaped injury after a suspected drunk driver struck a patrol vehicle while traveling the wrong way on Loop 335 in Potter County on June 6. Authorities said 29-year-old Hunter Allen Paslay of Amarillo was driving in the eastbound lane against traffic when the crash occurred. Paslay was medically cleared at the scene before being arrested on a DWI charge and booked into the Potter County Jail. A passenger in his vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

One Injured in Amarillo Shooting Investigation

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person injured Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Iris Street. Officers responding to the scene found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound who was transported to a hospital. Several people were located inside the residence, prompting the response of Violent Crimes Detectives and SWAT personnel. Authorities said the home was cleared and no additional victims were found. The investigation remains ongoing.
