Amarillo police arrested an 18-year-old suspect less than a day after a barrage of gunfire tore through a home occupied by eight people, including three children, early Sunday morning.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. on November 30, 2025, in the 4300 block of Bowie. Investigators say a vehicle drove down a nearby alley before its driver opened fire on the residence, unleashing approximately 50 shots. Five adults and three children were inside at the time. No injuries were reported, though police say the extent of the gunfire made the situation extremely dangerous.
Following an intensive, multi-agency investigation, officers identified 18-year-old Ruben Terrazas III as the suspected shooter. Authorities say tips and surveillance footage submitted by community members played a critical role. With support from APD’s Investigations Unit, Digital Forensics Unit, Crime Scene Unit, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Amarillo Regional Crime Center, officers located and arrested Terrazas in under 24 hours.
Terrazas is charged with eight counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon—one for each person inside the home—and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He has been booked into the Randall County Detention Center.
Police emphasized that the investigation is still active. They are urging residents in the area to check any home or business cameras for footage recorded around the time of the shooting. Video and audio can be submitted through the AXON link available on the department’s Nixle and Facebook pages.
