Randall County DA Robert Love won’t seek re-election; Lacy Miller files to run

Randall County District Attorney Robert Love will not seek another term when his current tenure ends in 2026, clearing the way for new candidates to pursue the office he has held since 2019.

Lacy Miller, who currently works within the Randall County District Attorney’s Office, has officially entered the race to succeed him. Miller confirmed that she filed the necessary paperwork shortly before Monday’s 6 p.m. deadline.

Love’s decision marks the end of a long career in the district attorney’s office. Before being elected district attorney, he served for many years as an assistant district attorney under James Farren. Farren first assumed office after winning the 1994 election against incumbent Randy Sherrod. Despite making broad staffing changes early in his administration, Farren opted to retain Love, allowing him to build a decades-long tenure in the office.

Love went on to lead the department beginning in 2019, overseeing prosecutions and setting policy for one of the region’s busiest county offices. His current term will conclude in 2026, at which point voters will choose his successor.
