The Caprock Longhorns left no doubt on Friday night, jumping out to a fast start and never letting up in a commanding 38-7 road win over the Lubbock High Westerners. From the opening drive, Caprock looked sharper, tougher, and more focused — the kind of performance you expect from a team fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive.
The Longhorns (3-5, 2-2) wasted little time taking control. Kicker Noah Gloria set the tone early with a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter, giving Caprock a 3-0 lead. The offense found its rhythm in the second quarter when Emiliano Castillo powered in from four yards out to make it 10-0. That score alone would have been enough, but Caprock wasn’t done.
By halftime, the Longhorns’ defense had already made life miserable for Lubbock (1-7, 0-4), bottling up the run game and forcing several punts. The defensive highlight came in the third quarter when Adrian Apodaca jumped a route, picked off a pass, and took it to the house for a touchdown — a play that broke the game wide open and fired up the sideline.
Running back Ernesto Alvarado provided balance on offense, grinding out 100 yards on just 11 carries. Behind a strong offensive line, Caprock moved the chains efficiently and controlled the clock. By the time the Westerners finally got on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter, the outcome had long been decided.
