Canyon finds its groove, dominates Pampa 41-6

In a game both teams desperately needed, the Canyon Eagles finally found their rhythm — and in a big way. Behind a relentless offensive performance and a statement night from their running game, Canyon rolled past Pampa 41-6 on the road, giving new head coach and Canyon alum Matt Lovorn his first victory at the helm.

For a program looking to spark some consistency, this win couldn’t have come at a better time. Canyon (5-3, 1-2) showcased balance, execution, and confidence — three things that had been missing in recent weeks. The Eagles piled up 511 total yards, showing that when their offense clicks, they can be a handful for anyone in the district.

Leading the charge was Austin Turner, who delivered a career night. The junior running back pounded Pampa’s defense with 19 carries for 165 yards and three touchdowns, consistently breaking tackles and keeping the chains moving. Quarterback Brox Hacker complemented the ground attack perfectly, completing 9-of-12 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown. His connection with Bayler Schilling was especially sharp, as Schilling hauled in seven receptions for 115 yards and the lone passing score.

The victory keeps Canyon’s playoff hopes alive, pulling them into a tie for fourth place in district play with two games left. More importantly, it gives Lovorn and his team momentum heading into the stretch run — something every coach covets in late October.

For Pampa (1-7, 0-3), the loss was another tough blow in what has been a challenging season. Their postseason hopes are now on life support, while Canyon walks away with renewed belief and a clear identity: tough, balanced, and finally playing like a team on a mission.
