Update: Jackson released the following statement:
“My nephew was injured at the Trump rally in Butler Pennsylvania. Thankfully his injury was not serious and he is doing well. My family was sitting in the front, near where the President was speaking. They heard shots ringing out — my nephew then realized he had blood on his neck and something had grazed and cut his neck. He was treated by the providers in the medical tent. Thank you to all those that have reached out to check on him. Please join my family and me in praying for all who were injured and the life lost. The President and the survivors are lucky to be alive.“
Original post: Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) said Saturday that his nephew had been grazed with a bullet while attending former President Trump’s rally.
“My nephew was at the event tonight,” Jackson told Fox News’s Sean Hannity, explaining he was in the “friends and family pen.”
“They heard the shots, and everybody dropped to the ground,” Jackson explained. “And I don’t know if you guys have the picture or not, but he was grazed in the neck. A bullet crossed his neck, cut his neck, and he was bleeding.”
The Texas Republican, also a former White House physician, said that the pen was situated to the right of the former president and “in the line of fire.” Jackson explained that his sister-in-law had encouraged his nephew to go to the triage tent after the incident.
Trump was quickly escorted from his campaign rally in Butler, Pa., earlier on Saturday after the shooting. The U.S. Secret Service said that the one attendee died from the incident, while another two were critically injured.
