The Amarillo City Council has a full agenda Tuesday, with discussions ranging from a potential forensic audit to parking regulations in the U.S. Route 66–Sixth Street Historic District.
Council members will first meet in executive session at 1 p.m., where they'll discuss potential transportation, information and manufacturing business prospects, as well as the possible purchase of property in the city's southwest quadrant.
The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
One of the key discussion items centers on the City Council Audit Committee. Council members are expected to review the committee's roles and responsibilities before discussing the scope of a potential audit that could include Community Investment Program projects, sewer and water operations, and American Rescue Plan Act funding.
The council is also expected to hear a presentation on a proposed engineering services contract for the city's wastewater treatment facilities.
Among the consent agenda items is a proposed agreement with the Texas Municipal League Risk Pool to provide critical illness benefits for eligible retired firefighters and peace officers. Council members will also consider a temporary landscape maintenance agreement.
Outside of the consent agenda, officials are expected to consider an ordinance that would change parking regulations in the U.S. Route 66–Sixth Street Historic District. The council will also take up the city's 2026 Investment Policy and consider filling a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Board.
