Update on street projects around Amarillo

The City of Amarillo announced Monday that multiple street maintenance projects are scheduled for the week, bringing temporary traffic adjustments to key roadways across the city.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, traffic on North Grand Street will be shifted to the west, with northbound and southbound lanes reduced to a two-lane configuration. At the same time, eastbound and westbound traffic on Northeast 24th Avenue will be detoured around the intersection. The changes will allow crews to mill the existing road surface and install new asphalt.

Additional work is set to begin Thursday on Southwest 45th Avenue. Eastbound lanes will be closed, and traffic will be redirected to the north into a two-lane pattern. Construction will take place between Interstate 27 and South Georgia Street, where similar resurfacing work is planned.

City officials say the temporary adjustments are designed to maintain traffic flow while ensuring safety in active construction zones. Drivers traveling through these areas should expect delays and are urged to follow posted signage and use caution.

The projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve road conditions and extend the lifespan of Amarillo’s street infrastructure.
