The Amarillo Police Departmant is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early Saturday morning. Officers were dispatched around 2:55 a.m. to a residence in the 800 block of S. Maryland Street following reports of gunfire.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered multiple spent cartridge casings in the street and yards of two homes. Inside one residence, 40-year-old Moneke Denice Glass was found with gunshot injuries. Emergency responders provided life-saving care until Amarillo Medical Services transported Glass to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigation units are actively examining the scene. Investigators are urging residents in the area between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. to review any outdoor or doorbell camera footage and submit it through the provided QR code to aid the investigation.
APD is asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. Police continue to urge the community to come forward to help identify those responsible and bring clarity to this early morning tragedy.
