Amarillo police have arrested Michael Noel Beams in connection with a violent stabbing that occurred on March 19 near Southwest 5th Street and South Parker Street.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing and found a man suffering from five wounds to his upper back and losing a significant amount of blood. The victim and witnesses provided a description of the suspect, identified as Mike, who had fled south from the scene.
While officers were still gathering information, the suspect returned. He appeared exhausted, had visible facial cuts, and showed signs of having been in a physical struggle. Witnesses immediately identified him as the attacker, though he denied involvement and claimed he had been jogging.
Police later reviewed nearby security camera footage, which showed the suspect approaching the victim, engaging in an argument, and then launching a repeated knife attack. After being confronted with the footage, Beams claimed he could not recall the incident.
