The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has provided an update on the ongoing investigation into a deadly shooting in Plainview, Texas. Authorities reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 7, at a residence on the 2700 block of Upchurch Street.
The Hale County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Texas Rangers to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. DPS confirmed that four adults were found deceased at the scene. The individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Hector Alonso Sanchez, 30-year-old Tanya Paola Valadez Rangel, 47-year-old Rosalba Saenz Rodriguez, and 33-year-old Saul Villa, who has been identified as the shooter.
In addition, a 21-year-old, Reily Joseph Zavala Barrientos, was injured in the incident and later died from their injuries at Covenant Hospital-Plainview.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the motive or circumstances leading to the shooting. The Texas Rangers remain actively involved in the investigation, examining the scene and gathering information to determine the events that led to the fatalities.
