Palo Duro Dons send seven players to college football

The momentum just keeps building at Palo Duro High School.

Fresh off a thrilling season that saw the Dons battle their way to the second round of the playoffs before a narrow 38-35 loss to Anna, Palo Duro is now celebrating a major victory off the field. Five more seniors officially signed to continue their football careers at the collegiate level this week, bringing the program’s total to seven college-bound athletes from the Class of 2026.

That kind of output doesn’t happen by accident — it’s the result of a culture that continues to produce talent year after year.

The Latest Dons Taking the Next Step

Joining previously announced signees Darien Lewis and Vern Blair, who are headed to UNLV, five more seniors made their college commitments official:

Shalom Gonzalez – West Texas A&M University

Luis Fuentes-Navarrete – Oklahoma Panhandle State University

DJ Harris – Oklahoma Panhandle State University

KJ Barnes – Cisco College

Daniel Moses – Navarro College

Seven total signees from one senior class is a statement — not just about individual talent, but about the strength of the Palo Duro program as a whole.

Reloading, Not Rebuilding

While graduation will take its toll, the Dons’ future looks far from uncertain.

The next wave of standout talent is already in place:

Quarterback Julian Reese

Wide receiver Kyron Brown

Defensive standout Keimaure Rayford

Running back Raymond Johnson

Each already holds Division I offers, signaling that Palo Duro’s success story is far from finished.

If this year proved anything, it’s that the Dons don’t just produce winning seasons — they produce next-level athletes. And with another group of high-ceiling players ready to step into the spotlight, Palo Duro’s pipeline to college football looks stronger than ever.
