Candidate list for the March 2026 primary elections

On March 3, voters in Potter and Randall counties will decide which Republican and Democratic candidates advance to the November 3 general election. The primary ballot often plays a decisive role in shaping local leadership and state representation — especially in years like this one, where many races feature little or no competition within a party.

The last day to register to vote is February 2, and early voting runs February 17–27.

With the filing period now closed, the Texas Secretary of State has published the official candidate list. Independent and third-party candidates may still appear on the November ballot, but they do not participate in the March primaries.

A Note on Uncontested Races

This cycle features a large number of uncontested primary races, especially for:

Precinct chairs

Judicial seats

County-level offices

Races in heavily Republican districts

This means many voters will see only one choice per party — or in some cases, only one party running a candidate at all. Because of this, primary participation is especially important: in some districts, the primary winner will be the de facto winner in November.
