Homicide investigation underway after man found dead in Amarillo home

A homicide investigation is ongoing after Amarillo police discovered a deceased man early Saturday morning, July 19, 2025, in the 1500 block of South Bowie Street.

Officers with the Amarillo Police Department responded to reports of a deceased individual inside a residence and arrived to find the body of 36-year-old Daniel Clay Beavers. Due to the suspicious circumstances, the department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the location to conduct a thorough investigation.

Preliminary investigative findings suggest that Beavers may have been run over by a vehicle. However, police have not yet disclosed specific details about the scene or how the suspected vehicle-related injuries may have occurred.

An autopsy was conducted on July 21 in Lubbock, Texas. According to the preliminary autopsy report, Beavers died from blunt force trauma to the torso area — injuries consistent with being struck by a heavy object or vehicle.

No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Amarillo Police Department states that the case remains open and active, with investigators continuing to pursue leads.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit at 806-378-9468 or reach out anonymously through Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400.
