Teens on seriously injured after crashing dirt bike into APD motorcycle officer


Two teenagers were seriously injured Monday afternoon after crashing a dirt bike into a police motorcycle officer.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Russell Street near Southeast 10th Avenue. According to the Amarillo Police Department, the teens were riding a dirt bike when they came out of an alleyway and failed to yield the right of way. They collided with the motorcycle officer, who was on patrol at the time.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. The two juveniles, whose names have not been released, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police say the officer involved was not injured in the crash.

This incident remains under investigation.
