An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police responded to reports of gunfire and a fight at a large party in Hereford early Sunday morning.
According to the Hereford Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of Star Street around 1 a.m. on October 25 after receiving reports of shots fired and a disturbance at a residence.
When officers arrived, numerous people were seen leaving the home as police began investigating what had happened.
While checking the area, officers discovered evidence outside the residence, including spent shell casings, which supported the initial reports that a firearm had been discharged.
As the investigation unfolded, officers identified 18-year-old Damian Rocha as the person suspected of firing the weapon.
Police later located Rocha inside the residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Rocha was booked into the Deaf Smith County Jail.
He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. Authorities also indicated that Rocha faces additional charges unrelated to Sunday's incident, although details about those charges were not provided.
Despite reports of gunfire and a fight involving people at the party, police confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with either incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what led to the altercation and the reported gunfire, remain under investigation.
Hereford Police are asking anyone who attended the party or may have information about what happened to come forward. Investigators are also interested in obtaining any video footage that could help piece together the events of the early morning incident.
Anyone with information or video related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the Hereford Police Department at 806-363-7120 or by email at herefordpd@herefordtexas.gov.
