Pantex has shown up again in the federal government's latest release of declassified UFO records.
The Department of War released its fourth batch of documents tied to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) last week as part of President Donald Trump's directive to review and declassify government records involving the mysterious sightings. UAP is the government's preferred term for what most people still call UFOs.
This latest batch includes a report detailing an incident at Pantex on Sept. 1, 2015.
According to the report, Pantex's ground surveillance radar detected an unknown object at about 7:10 a.m. The object was described as "flying in a non-threatening manner west of Pantex facilities in a northerly trajectory."
Personnel were instructed to follow the object and gather as much information as possible.
Two members of the Pantex Police Force tried to intercept it as it crossed Pantex Drive but couldn't catch up. As they followed it, they noted there was no sound coming from the object and they couldn't see any type of propulsion system keeping it in the air.
The officers tracked it for several miles before losing sight of it near County Road G and FM 1342 as it continued to the northeast.
One detail the report specifically highlights is that the object "seemed to increase in speed and changed direction as it was being followed."
The officers described it as diamond-shaped, although "more round at the top." They estimated it was about 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Its color was listed as either black or silver, red and blue.
While the object's appearance puzzled those who saw it, the report repeatedly notes that it never behaved aggressively and "moved in a non-threatening manner" throughout the encounter.
