Canyon City Commission to Consider Downtown Funding, Water Assistance
The Canyon City Commission will meet Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 301 16th Street. Commissioners will receive an engineering update on current public works projects and consider a project funding agreement with the Canyon Economic Development Corporation to provide matching funds for a downtown revitalization grant through the MPO. The commission will also consider applying for financial assistance through the Texas Water Development Board. An executive session is scheduled to discuss legal matters, real estate, economic development negotiations, personnel issues, and appointments to the Canyon Economic Development Board. Public comments will be accepted during the meeting.
Amarillo Ends Mowing Contract, Seeks Short-Term Replacement
The City of Amarillo has terminated its mowing contract with a private contractor after determining the company failed to meet required maintenance standards. City parks are now being maintained through temporary contracted mowing services along with Parks and Recreation Department staff, including after-hours work, to address overgrown areas. City officials say the temporary arrangement is intended to protect public property and maintain park conditions. The Amarillo City Council is expected to consider approving a new short-term mowing contract at its July 14 meeting.
Borger Council to Review School Resource Officer Agreement
The Borger City Council will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 600 North Main Street. The council is expected to consider an interlocal agreement with Borger ISD for School Resource Officer services and nominate a candidate to the TML Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board of Trustees. Members will also review a request from Borger Inc. to purchase three downtown properties on North Main Street. Public comments will be limited to three minutes per speaker.
Dumas Commission to Address Farmers Market, Utility Equipment
The Dumas City Commission will meet Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at 124 East 7th Street. Commissioners will hear updates from the Dumas Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Division before considering overflow vendor space for the Dumas EDC Farmers Market. Additional agenda items include a lease agreement with Twisted Sports Bar and Grill, awarding a bid for a wastewater department sewer cleaner, and purchasing new solid waste containers. The meeting will also include reports from city staff and commissioners, followed by public comments limited to five minutes per speaker.
