Fairly Applauds Child Online Safety Law

Amarillo State Rep. Caroline Fairly is celebrating a major milestone for the App Store Accountability Act after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the law to move forward while legal challenges continue. The new law requires app stores to verify users' ages and obtain parental approval before minors can download or purchase apps. Fairly carried the bill in the Texas House, while Sen. Angela Paxton sponsored it in the Senate before Gov. Greg Abbott signed it into law. The case will next be heard by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in August.
