An 18-year-old California woman is facing felony charges after prosecutors say she destroyed evidence connected to the case against Kevin Hunt, the man who pleaded guilty in last year's foiled Fourth of July terror plot in Canyon.
A recently unsealed indictment charges Kristina Maria Partida with hindering prosecution of terrorism and tampering with physical evidence.
According to the indictment, Partida is accused of tampering with electronic messages "which might aid in the discovery of or apprehension of Kevin Hunt." She is also accused of "destroying electronic records" to hinder the investigation.
Both alleged offenses are dated July 16, 2025.
Hunt was arrested after the Texas Department of Public Safety uncovered what investigators described as a planned attack on Canyon's Fourth of July parade. During the investigation, authorities found materials used to make explosives, including hydrogen peroxide, along with other bomb-making materials.
Hunt has since pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the planned attack.
Investigators with the DPS Criminal Investigations Division also recovered Discord chat messages showing Hunt discussing his plans and his intent to carry them out with other people on the gaming platform.
It is not clear whether Partida was one of the individuals Hunt communicated with on Discord. Court documents released so far do not answer that question.
Partida, who is from Gardena, California, was arrested Friday morning. Her bond has been set at $1.5 million.
The Randall County Sheriff's Office is expected to begin the process of extraditing her to Texas.
