Hunter Corman continued his remarkable run on the golf course Sunday, overcoming a tightly contested leaderboard with a clutch finish to win the Tall Tower Open at Ross Rogers Golf Complex.
Battling gusty winds on the Mustang Layout, the recent Wildorado High School graduate delivered another impressive performance, firing a final-round 67 to finish at 18-under-par 198 over three rounds. His scores of 65, 66, and 67 gave him a three-shot victory after one of the tournament's most competitive weekends.
The championship was far from decided entering the final round. Corman, defending Tall Tower Open champion Tyler Paige, and Andrew Brewer were separated by just one shot after 36 holes. Paige maintained the lead through the opening nine holes Sunday and still held a one-shot advantage through 13 holes before the tournament took a dramatic turn.
The defining moment came on the challenging par-4 14th hole. Corman delivered one of the best approach shots of the day, placing his ball within 10 feet of the pin. After Paige struggled to save par, Corman converted his birdie opportunity to move into the lead. He never looked back.
Although he stumbled briefly on the 15th hole, Corman quickly regained control with consecutive birdies on holes 16 and 17 before closing out the victory. Over his final six holes, he played 3-under par to separate himself from the field.
Across the 54-hole tournament, Corman showcased exceptional consistency and scoring ability, recording 20 birdies and an eagle while navigating two of Amarillo's toughest layouts in difficult wind conditions.
The victory adds another impressive accomplishment to what has become a breakout spring and summer for the 18-year-old golfer.
Earlier this spring, Corman claimed the UIL Class 1A individual state championship while helping Wildorado earn the Class 1A state runner-up trophy. Just one week before the Tall Tower Open, he teamed with Jenner King to win the Whing Ding Invitational at Amarillo Country Club, securing a coveted spot in the prestigious Coors Tournament of Champions later this summer.
Now, Corman has added another Amarillo Major Golf championship to his growing resume, further establishing himself as one of the Texas Panhandle's brightest young golfers.
Andrew Brewer finished runner-up at 15-under-par with rounds of 63, 67, and 71 for a three-round total of 201. Paige, who remained in contention throughout much of the final day, settled for third place after posting rounds of 64, 66, and 73 to finish at 13-under-par 203.
