Arrest records reveal more details in gang-related shooting at Plum Creek Apartments

Newly obtained arrest records are providing additional insight into the investigation of a June 17 shooting in Amarillo that left six people injured and led to the arrests of four individuals on a variety of charges.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. in the 5900 block of Plum Creek Drive. Amarillo police have described the incident as gang-related and said the arrests stemmed from information gathered by Violent Crimes Detectives and Task Force Officers with assistance from staff at the Amarillo Regional Crime Center.

The investigation has revealed allegations of evidence tampering, resistance to arrest, and attempts to conceal weapons connected to the shooting.

Jeremiah Hunter

One of the first arrests announced was that of 18-year-old Jeremiah Hunter, who was taken into custody on June 18 and charged with tampering with evidence.

According to arrest records, investigators determined Hunter was involved in the shooting and had used a firearm during the incident. Records indicate Hunter told investigators he fired at another suspect in what he described as self-defense after being shot. Authorities have not identified the individual Hunter allegedly fired at or disclosed whether that person was injured.

Investigators allege Hunter later gave the firearm to an acquaintance in an effort to prevent law enforcement from locating it. The arrest report states he admitted transferring possession of the weapon with the intent of keeping it away from investigators.

Hunter was arrested while receiving treatment at Northwest Texas Hospital and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Davion Ashley

Additional details have also emerged regarding the arrest of Davion Ashley, who faces multiple charges connected to both the shooting investigation and his arrest.

Ashley has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest. While Amarillo police previously identified Ashley as 18 years old, his arrest record lists him as 19.

According to arrest documents, officers attempted to take Ashley into custody at Northwest Texas Hospital on Friday morning. During the arrest, investigators allege Ashley became combative, throwing a trash can and an IV stand at an officer. Records further indicate he attempted to kick officers while they were trying to restrain him.

The report states officers flagged Ashley as suicidal during the encounter after he allegedly made repeated statements indicating he did not want to go to jail and expressed a desire to die.

Ashley was ultimately taken into custody and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Jacob Jimenez Jr.

Investigators also arrested 20-year-old Jacob Jimenez Jr., who authorities say played a role in concealing evidence tied to the shooting.

According to arrest records, officers identified Jimenez as a person allegedly hiding evidence connected to the Plum Creek Drive incident. Law enforcement officers traveled to the 1800 block of Poplar on Friday afternoon to arrest him.

Authorities allege Jimenez attempted to delete all data from his cellphone as officers moved to preserve potential evidence. During the arrest, investigators say he resisted officers and struck one officer in the face.

The arrest report also states that Jimenez admitted to possessing and selling THC vape products. Investigators further allege he confessed to hiding a firearm used during the shooting.

Jimenez was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on charges of assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence with intent to impair an investigation, and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2 exceeding four ounces.

Anetik Rahma

A fourth suspect, Anetik Rahma, was arrested Friday in the 1400 block of North Taylor Street.

Police previously identified Rahma as 18 years old, though arrest records list him as 19. According to investigators, Rahma was taken into custody without incident shortly before 1 p.m.

Rahma was booked into the Potter County Detention Center and charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair the investigation.

Investigation Continues

The arrests highlight what investigators describe as extensive efforts by multiple individuals to conceal or destroy evidence connected to the shooting. Court records and arrest reports indicate investigators have focused heavily on recovering firearms and preserving digital evidence believed to be relevant to the case.

Despite the arrests, many questions surrounding the shooting remain unanswered. Authorities have not released updated information regarding the conditions of the six people injured during the incident, nor have they publicly identified all individuals involved.

Police continue to characterize the shooting as gang-related, and the investigation remains active. Additional charges or arrests could follow as detectives continue reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses.

The Amarillo Police Department has not released further details about the circumstances that led to the gunfire or the events immediately preceding the shooting.
