Multiple people injured in downtown Amarillo stabbing incident


The Amarillo Police Department released details regarding a stabbing incident reported late Saturday night in downtown Amarillo.

According to police, officers responded around 11:58 p.m. on May 23 to the 700 block of South Polk Street following reports of a stabbing. Investigators determined that a fight had broken out between a man and a group of individuals, resulting in several people being stabbed during the altercation.

Authorities said four victims were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police identified 33-year-old Patrick Wayne Bailey Jr. as the suspect in the case. Officers arrested Bailey at the scene, and he was later booked into the Potter County Detention Center on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Amarillo Police Department stated the investigation remains ongoing.
