As wildfires continue to impact communities across the Texas Panhandle, local organizations and businesses are stepping up to provide relief, resources, and support for affected residents and first responders.
Freedom House of Canyon announced it will open Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to noon to accept donations for wildfire victims. The organization says toiletries and clothing are among the most urgently needed items at this time. Residents who are unable to make the scheduled donation window are encouraged to contact the organization directly to arrange another time.
Several local businesses are also offering free services to help families and property owners recover from smoke and fire damage.
Steam Team Restoration and Cleaning is providing free emergency inspections for homes and businesses affected by wildfire smoke and fire damage. The company is also offering around-the-clock emergency board-up services for damaged properties as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
KB Cleaning Solutions, LLC says it will donate a free deep cleaning service to an individual or family impacted by the fires. The service includes sanitizing surfaces, assisting with smoke and dust residue cleanup, and helping restore living spaces affected by the disaster.
In Canyon, Aviator Haul Away, LLC is offering free fire cleanup and debris removal services to residents in need. The company says the effort is intended to help families begin the recovery process more quickly after wildfire damage.
Local restaurants and community groups are also supporting firefighters and emergency crews working long hours on the fire lines.
The Corner Grill announced it is providing free meals to firefighters working overnight to battle the wildfires. The restaurant says the effort is aimed at supporting crews as they continue responding to dangerous conditions across the region.
Meanwhile, Canyon Elks Lodge is hosting a free meal Friday night for first responders serving the community during the wildfire emergency. The lodge is also seeking monetary donations to help offset the cost of supplies and food for the event.
As wildfire conditions evolve, additional organizations and businesses are expected to join relief efforts throughout the Panhandle. Community members are encouraged to stay connected with local organizations for updated information on donation drives, volunteer opportunities, and recovery resources.
