Eight children killed in Shreveport shooting, suspect dead after police chase

Eight children were killed in a shooting early Sunday in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a domestic disturbance that unfolded across multiple homes, according to authorities.

Police said officers arrived just after 6 a.m. to an extensive and rapidly evolving crime scene spanning four locations. Ten people had been shot in total, with eight victims pronounced dead at the scene.

Victims ranged in age from one to 14 years old, and authorities said some of the children killed were believed to be related to the suspected gunman. Names and exact ages have not been released pending family notification.

After the shootings, investigators said the suspect fled the area and carjacked a vehicle, prompting a pursuit involving Shreveport police that continued into neighboring Bossier Parish.

During the chase, officers in Bossier Parish opened fire on the suspect’s vehicle. Authorities believe the suspect was the only person who discharged a weapon during the earlier attacks across multiple homes.

The suspect later died following the exchange with law enforcement. Officials have not released the suspect’s identity.

Louisiana State Police will lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting in Bossier Parish, while Shreveport police continue investigating the homicides across the multiple scenes.

Officials said the complexity of the case, which spans four distinct locations, means details remain preliminary as investigators work to determine a full timeline of events.

Law enforcement agencies urged patience as the investigation continues, noting that evidence collection is ongoing across all sites involved in the early morning violence. Community members in the Shreveport and Bossier areas have been left shaken as authorities work to establish motive and sequence of events. Officials also indicated that additional updates will be provided as notifications to families are completed and forensic analysis progresses. The investigation remains active and multi-agency coordination continues across both parishes Louisiana authorities.
