The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that left two people injured and led to multiple arrests following a series of events that began at a parking lot and ended with a vehicle crash into a residence.
According to police, officers were dispatched around 5:43 a.m. Sunday to the Discovery Center parking lot after receiving reports of multiple gunshots. When officers arrived, they began gathering information from witnesses and at least one victim who was at the scene. Investigators said everyone involved had attended a party earlier in the night and later met at the parking lot for reasons that remain under investigation.
Police reported that an argument broke out among those present. During the dispute, one suspect allegedly retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and began firing at other vehicles in the parking lot. Officers said several individuals inside one of the targeted vehicles fled the area and returned fire while leaving. As a result of the exchange, one person sustained minor injuries. The exact nature of those injuries and the number of shots fired have not been released.
Following the initial incident, officers worked to identify a suspect vehicle connected to the shooting. Police later located the vehicle, but when officers attempted to make contact, the driver fled. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a residence in the 3300 block of Line Avenue. Police said one resident of the home was injured during the crash and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further details about the resident’s condition were provided.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Adreanna Anaya of Amarillo. She was arrested at the scene and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Police said she faces a charge of evading arrest in a motor vehicle causing bodily injury.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that Anaya had allegedly dropped off the suspected shooter at a local hospital prior to her arrest. Police said the individual, identified as 17-year-old Sean Maes, was being treated for a gunshot wound. After receiving medical care, Maes was arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail. He is facing eight counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
The Amarillo Police Department stated that the incident is being handled by its Violent Crimes Unit. Officials have not said whether the party that preceded the shooting is under investigation or whether additional suspects may be involved. Police are continuing to review evidence, including witness statements and any available surveillance footage, to determine the full sequence of events.
