Tascosa dominates Caprock to clinch playoff spot with 52-10 victory

The stakes were clear Thursday night at Dick Bivins Stadium: win and you’re in. With a playoff berth on the line, the Tascosa Rebels wasted no time making their intentions known. In a dominant performance from the opening kickoff, the Rebels rolled past Amarillo ISD rival Caprock 52-10, securing a postseason spot and reinforcing their status as one of the district’s most dangerous teams.

Tascosa (6-3, 4-1) set the tone early, unleashing its trademark ground attack with crisp execution and big-play bursts. Reese Cabe ignited the Rebels on their opening series, slicing through the Caprock defense for a 59-yard touchdown that signaled what kind of night it was going to be. Cabe was electric every time he touched the ball, finishing with a game-high 98 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just five carries. Efficiency and explosiveness defined his night.

Of course, Tascosa’s running game is never a one-man show. The Rebels piled up an impressive 423 rushing yards, leaning on their familiar option looks and physical blocking to wear down the Longhorns. Colfyn Fulton and Deandre Sanders each chipped in 89 yards, giving Tascosa a relentless three-headed backfield that Caprock simply couldn’t slow.

By the time the Rebels built a 31-0 lead, the outcome felt inevitable. Caprock (3-6, 2-3) showed some fight late in the second quarter, getting on the board with a 31-yard field goal from Noah Gloria and a 6-yard touchdown pass from Juan De La Cruz to Ernesto Alvarado. But the early hole was far too deep, and Tascosa closed the door with authority.

Caprock still controls its own playoff path and can secure the district’s No. 4 seed by winning at Lubbock Monterey next Thursday. But Thursday night belonged to Tascosa—sharp, confident, and postseason bound.
