The City of Canyon is inviting residents to take a more active role in local government by applying for positions on a variety of boards and committees. City officials announced that applications are now open for 11 different advisory groups that help guide decisions on development, recreation, housing, planning, and more.
The boards and committees currently seeking applicants include:
Board of City Development
Canyon Area Library Board
Canyon Housing Authority
Canyon Housing Program, Inc.
Canyon Main Street Advisory Board
Construction and Advisory Appeals Board
Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Committee
Planning and Zoning Commission
TIRZ #1 (Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone)
Vision Zero Advisory Board
Zoning Board of Adjustment
These groups play a key role in shaping policies and projects that affect Canyon residents. Members may review development proposals, offer recommendations on neighborhood and business growth, support cultural and recreational programming, work on public safety goals, or help maintain zoning and land use standards.
City officials noted that serving on a board or committee is a meaningful way for residents to be more involved in the decision-making process and to help influence Canyon’s future. Most positions require attendance at scheduled meetings and a willingness to review materials and participate in discussions.
