Area volleyball scores & highlights: Lady Rebels bounce back, Amarillo High stays perfect in district


After a tough setback over the weekend, the Tascosa Lady Rebels showed resilience Tuesday night with a convincing road sweep over Lubbock-Cooper, 25-21, 25-12, 25-17, inside the Pirates Gym.

The win keeps Tascosa (18-9, 5-1) just a game behind Amarillo High in the District 3-5A standings. Lubbock-Cooper (16-9, 4-2) slides into third after the loss.

Presley Ward paced the Lady Rebels with a team-high 14 kills.

Avery Scalf added six kills and four blocks up front.

Bennet Berryman anchored the defense with 15 digs.

For LC, Broox Lopez had 18 assists to go along with six kills, while Konli Johnston chipped in five kills, five digs, and two aces.

Amarillo High Keeps Rolling

No surprise at Amarillo High, as the Lady Sandies extended their remarkable district win streak to 59 matches with a dominant sweep of Lubbock Monterey, 25-7, 25-9, 25-14.

Harper Vaughn tallied 14 kills and 12 assists for a double-double.

Beennett Rea dished out a game-high 23 assists.

Ellen Head collected 15 digs.

The Lady Sandies sit alone atop District 3-5A at 7-0 (20-8 overall).

Coronado Surges Past Caprock

The Lubbock Coronado Lady Mustangs stayed hot, knocking off Caprock in straight sets, 25-13, 25-18, 25-11.

Addison Brown was everywhere on defense with 25 digs.

Malory Holdman registered a double-double (18 assists, 10 digs).

Hailee Parrott Curtis hammered home 15 kills.

Coronado improves to 17-13, 5-1, while Caprock falls to 11-12, 1-6.

Palo Duro Breaks Through

It was a milestone night for Palo Duro, who earned their first district win of the season by downing Lubbock High in four, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19.

Trinady Davis led with 13 kills and 10 digs.

Terri Rukundo dished out 21 assists.

Draylee Phillips added 13 digs.

The Lady Dons improve to 7-15 overall, 1-5 in district. LHS drops to 5-25, 1-5.

West Plains Outlasts Hereford

In District 4-4A, West Plains went on the road and came back with a hard-fought four-set victory over Hereford, 23-25, 25-10, 25-22, 26-24.

Aaniyah Kitchen posted a huge night with 14 kills and nine blocks.

Kynzie Ward and Sydney Garza each added 14 kills.

Idaly Sotelo was lights out defensively with 46 digs.

Celia Murillo set the pace with 29 assists.

The Lady Wolves are now 21-9, 3-0. Hereford falls to 13-13, 1-2.

Randall Stays Perfect in 4-4A

The Randall Lady Raiders matched West Plains’ pace by sweeping Dumas at home, 25-21, 25-20, 26-24.

Kambree Gonzalez served up five aces and picked up 11 digs.

Nevaeh Connor added 14 digs.

Chloe Brown led with nine kills.

For the Demonettes, Sophie Clements notched a gritty double-double with 13 digs and 10 assists.

Canyon Completes the Sweep

Finally, Canyon kept its district record spotless with a road sweep at Perryton, 25-20, 25-11, 25-9.

Laney Jones and Neelie Henson shared the spotlight with 12 kills each.

Brylee McElroy and London Gibson combined for 26 assists.

The Lady Eagles (13-12, 3-0) remain tied atop District 4-4A with Randall and West Plains, while Perryton (7-14, 0-3) is still searching for its first district victory.

District 3-5A: Amarillo High (7-0) leads, followed by Tascosa and Coronado (5-1 each).

District 4-4A: Canyon, Randall, and West Plains are all 3-0, setting up a thrilling race.

With multiple teams heating up, the second half of district play is shaping up to be just as exciting as the first.
