Double D drive-by shooting: Victim dies, additional charges pending

A woman who was critically injured in a drive-by shooting earlier this month in Randall County has died, and authorities say additional charges are under review for two suspects already in custody.

According to the Randall County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), Kristie Harris was struck in the head by gunfire on July 3, 2025, in the 11000 block of Double D Road. Harris was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. On July 15, she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy has been ordered.

The shooting prompted a swift response by law enforcement, including a SWAT standoff later that day at a residence on South Spring Street near Oakdale Elementary School. The sheriff’s office said the suspect surrendered without incident.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Anakin Harrison was booked into the Randall County Jail on July 3 on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Five days later, on July 8, Jacob McCormick was arrested on the same charge.

In light of Harris's death, investigators are working to pursue additional charges against the suspects. The case will be forwarded to the Randall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office for review.

The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office has not ruled out further developments.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Randall County Sheriff’s Office.
