The Amarillo Police Department (APD) has announced an arrest in connection with the July 19 homicide of Daniel Clay Beavers.
John Joseph Kempf, a 23-year-old male, has been arrested and charged with murder. He has been booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
In the early morning hours of July 19, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Bowie after receiving reports of a deceased male. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 36-year-old Daniel Clay Beavers inside his residence.
Due to suspicious circumstances at the scene, APD’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit launched a full investigation. Preliminary findings indicated that Beavers may have been struck by a vehicle.
An autopsy was conducted on July 21 in Lubbock, Texas. According to the preliminary report, Beavers died from blunt force trauma to the torso.
The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are continuing to pursue leads.
