The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left an 18-year-old dead in northwest Amarillo on Sunday.
According to police, officers were called at around 4:18 a.m. on July 27 to the area of Northwest 2nd Avenue and North Adams Street after multiple reports of gunfire. Callers told dispatchers they heard shots and believed someone had been hit inside a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found a man—identified as 18-year-old Damarian Grear—inside a car with an apparent gunshot wound. Grear was pronounced dead at the scene.
The department’s Homicide Unit responded, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details, including possible suspects or a motive, have been released.
