In a nationally televised address Saturday night, President Donald Trump announced that U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities were a “spectacular military success,” claiming they had severely damaged Iran’s ability to produce enriched uranium.
“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump said. “Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success.”
The coordinated strikes hit three key nuclear sites: Natanz, Esfahan, and Fordow — the last of which is built deep inside a mountain and considered one of Iran’s most fortified facilities.
Trump delivered the address from the White House, flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He warned that more strikes could follow if Iran does not agree to a “satisfactory peace agreement.”
“This cannot continue,” Trump said. “There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.”
He emphasized that while Saturday’s targets were among the most difficult, “many targets” remain on the table. “If peace does not come quickly,” he warned, “we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill.”
