The Randall Raiders delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Friday night at Wink, overwhelming El Paso Austin 49-0 with a blend of smothering defense and the most dynamic passing attack they’ve showcased all year. With the win, Randall improves to 9-2 and advances to the area round, where the Raiders will take on Burnet at a time and site to be announced next week.
If there were any lingering questions about the Raiders’ late-season switch at quarterback, Braylon Preciado continues to erase them with every throw. The junior was nearly flawless, completing 14 of 16 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns. His poise and precision helped ignite a passing game that looked deeper and more dangerous than ever.
Phoenix Sherwood emerged as the star of the receiving corps, hauling in four catches for 135 yards and two scores. His big-play ability stretched the Panthers’ secondary from the opening drive, but what stood out even more was the sheer distribution of Randall’s air attack. Eleven different Raiders caught passes, and in a rare offensive twist, three players threw touchdown passes—Preciado, Drayden Ray, and Kaison Benton—underscoring the creativity and confidence within the offensive game plan.
Efficiency was the theme of the night, as Randall piled up 500 total yards on just 41 plays, averaging more than 12 yards every time they snapped the ball. But as explosive as the offense was, the defense may have been even better. The Raiders recorded their fourth shutout of the season, suffocating Austin’s attempts to establish any rhythm and controlling the line of scrimmage from start to finish.
