Rebels roll again: Tascosa’s offense explodes in homecoming rout

Through two weeks of district play, the Tascosa Rebels look like a team that has found its offensive identity — and that identity is all about power, pace, and plenty of points. Following up a high-scoring win over Lubbock Coronado, the Rebels put together another dominant effort Friday night at Dick Bivins Stadium, steamrolling Lubbock High 69-6 on Homecoming to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in district play.

Tascosa entered district action with questions about consistency, but those doubts have been erased quickly. Over their first two district games, the Rebels have scored 134 points combined, with the offense showing remarkable balance despite being run-heavy by design. Against Lubbock High, Tascosa piled up 398 rushing yards — a week after torching Coronado for more than 500.

What stands out is not just the raw yardage but the depth of contributors. No single runner eclipsed 100 yards against Lubbock High, yet five different players tallied at least 48 yards. That kind of spread reflects both the team’s depth and its commitment to spreading the workload. Traeson Elliott led the way with 75 yards on just seven carries, while Tendrick Sargent chipped in with two touchdown runs, helping Tascosa control the pace from the opening series.

Still, this wasn’t strictly a ground-only performance. Quarterback Coltyn Fulton added another dimension by throwing three touchdown passes, two of them hauled in by Chet Creery. With defenses having to load up the box against Tascosa’s rushing attack, Fulton has been able to capitalize through the air when opportunities present themselves, a balance that could prove critical as district play gets tougher.

Defensively, the Rebels did their job as well, limiting Lubbock High to just one score while keeping pressure on the ball carriers and swarming to tackles. After surrendering 28 points the week before to Coronado, this game showed progress on that side of the ball.

The bigger picture? Tascosa has made an early statement in the district race. At 2-0, the Rebels sit tied atop the standings and have shown that when their offense is rolling, they are nearly impossible to stop. Their ability to dominate on the ground while mixing in efficient passing gives them a dangerous formula moving forward.

As the schedule toughens, the Rebels will face sterner tests, but through two games, they’ve shown they are not just contenders — they’re setting the pace. Friday’s rout wasn’t just a Homecoming celebration; it was another reminder that Tascosa football is built for October and beyond.
