Court documents filed Monday have shed new light on the arrest of an 18-year-old Randall County man who is accused of possessing materials commonly used to make explosives.
Kevin Alexander Hunt was taken into custody by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and booked into the Randall County Jail. He now faces a charge of Possession of Components of Explosives, with bond set at $1.5 million.
According to the documents filed in Randall County District Court, Hunt allegedly had several items linked to the construction of explosive devices, including hexamethylene triperoxide diamine (HMTD), hexamine, citric acid, hydrogen peroxide (17% concentration), energetic powder, BBs or shotgun shell shot, electric matches, and a pyrotechnic firing device.
Investigators believe Hunt intended to combine these materials to create an explosive weapon, potentially to carry out a violent crime such as capital murder, aggravated assault, or an act of terrorism.
Authorities have not released further details about any specific target or timeline, and there is no public information yet suggesting whether others were involved.
The case remains under investigation by DPS, and officials say more charges could follow depending on what investigators uncover.
