Elaine Hays launches campaign for Texas House District 64

On Wednesday, former Amarillo City Council member Elaine Hays formally announced her campaign for Texas House District 64. Hays previously ran for the U.S. House to represent Texas' 13th Congressional District in 2014 and 2020.

Hays was raised in Wise County. She and her husband, Tracy Hays, founded and managed a wealth management firm before retiring in 2022.

“First and foremost, I am a Christian, and my relationship with God is the basis for how I live my life and for every decision that I make,” said Hays. “I am a principled conservative because conservative policies help protect the foundation upon which our society is founded, and that is the family.”

Hays attended Bridgeport High School, excelling in basketball and track and earning Female Athlete of the Year her Junior and Senior years. After high school, Hays attended Texas Christian University, where she continued playing basketball and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

After working as a stockbroker in Fort Worth, Elaine moved to Amarillo where she and Tracy raised their four children and she later served two terms on the Amarillo City Council.

Hays earned a Master of Science in Finance and Economics from West Texas A&M and completed her designation as a Certified Financial Planner from the College for Financial Planning. As a former private wealth manager through Hays and Hays Financial Services, she worked with individuals to help identify, communicate and achieve their financial goals. Hays has also co-authored two financial books, When God We Trust and Avoiding the Top Ten Money Mistakes.

“As a native Texan, I feel blessed to have grown up with pro-American, pro-Christian, and pro-Texan values. Unfortunately, these values are under attack,” Hays said. “Unless we oppose this assault on our freedom and heritage, I am concerned that my children and grandchildren will not inherit the Texas we all love.” Hays continued, “I am running for House District 64 to protect our Texas legacy by securing our border, restoring representation to the voters, protecting the taxpayer, strengthening the family, and fortifying Texas as the firewall to our Nation.”

Hays is a member of the Wise County Republican Women and she and Tracy are active members of Mercy Culture church in Fort Worth, Texas. She and Tracy enjoy traveling, reading, gardening and spending time with their family and friends.
