For the second week in a row the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs are ranked No. 1 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll in this week's edition announced on Monday afternoon.
After having a perfect 4-0 weekend at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic, the Lady Buffs stay atop the AVCA national ranking Top 25 poll. The Lady Buffs only dropped one set to East Central in the two-day, four match weekend. In the Lone Star Conference, the Lady Buffs are the only ranked university in the Top 25, with Dallas Baptist, UT Tyler and Angelo State receiving votes.
The Lady Buffs are one of four schools from the South Central Region represented in the AVCA coaches' poll with WT (1st), MSU Denver (6th), Colorado Mesa (14th) and Regis (18th) making the cut with Colorado School of Mines receiving votes.
There was a change in the top five as MSU Denver dropped three spots in the national standings after suffering their first loss of the season while St. Cloud State jumped two spots into the top five. National runner-up, Concordia St. Paul stayed at the No. 2 spot, while Wayne State and Tampa moved up one each to round out the top five.
WT will travel this upcoming weekend to the invitation only Colorado Premiere Challenge where eight out of 12 Top 25 teams will compete. The remaining four non-ranked teams, UT Tyler, Lewis, Central Missouri and Ferris State are all receiving votes for the Top 25 AVCA poll.
