Downtown Amarillo shooting leaves two people injured


Early Sunday morning, Amarillo police officers were sent to the 600 block of S. Polk on shots fired. When officers arrived, they found large groups of people leaving the bars and in the streets, but no fighting at the time. 

APD officers were then sent to the 900 block of Buchanan on another call of fighting. When officers arrived, no one was found fighting and everyone left the parking lot. 

At approximately 2:15 am, an area hospital advised they had two gunshot victims who arrived by private vehicles in their emergency room. One male victim had a minor injury, and the other male victim’s injury was life threatening. 

Officers were able to find the crime scene near the area of the 100 block of SE 7th. CSI and patrol officers collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. 

This case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Unit.
