One person dead after hit and run on Amarillo Blvd

Wednesday evening, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of Amarillo Boulevard near Eastern, on a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, Amarillo firefighters and AMR were already on scene and the pedestrian had been declared deceased by medical personnel. The victim was identified as 55 year old Angela Ramirez.

The driver of a vehicle on scene was travelling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard in the far-left lane. He changed lanes into the turning lane and then felt his vehicle drive over something. He stopped, saw the female victim in the street and immediately called 911.

While officers were investigating, they found evidence of another vehicle, a white car, on scene. Through the investigation, it was determined this was probably the vehicle that struck the woman initially, and the driver left the scene.
