Amarillo man arrested for indecent exposure

Amarillo police finally located a man on Tuesday who allegedly regularly drives through downtown with no pants on. They'd been searching for him for days.

According to an alert from the Amarillo Police Department, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of 47-year-old William Shannon last Friday (March 24).

“This warrant stemmed from an investigation into the report of Shannon exposing himself in the 500 block of south Polk Street,” said the alert.

In a March 22 Facebook post, user Tim Marry alleged that a man he called “The Polk Street Wanker” drives down 5th Street and Pol between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. daily. Marry said the man is seen with out pants “furiously” touching himself.

“Nobody wants to see this man’s goods not to mention we have our kids up here from time [to] time,” said the post. Marry – who is tattoo artist at Puppeteer Ink Tattoo studio on Polk – also included the license plate number of the man, photos and a video where the man could be seen through the sunroof of a pickup truck identified as a Ford Raptor.

“Oh my god,” exclaims a voice in the video, which was edited to conceal Shannon’s lower half. “Dude, it’s all out!”

Police asked the public for help to find Shannon, who was arrested Tuesday for indecent exposure, according to records from the Potter County Sherriff’s Office. Per the alert, $1,000 was being offered for tips leading to his arrest. It appears that a $2,500 bond was set for Shannon.
