Wreck near Borger leaves 3 Sanford sisters dead

Three teen sisters died in a rollover crash around two miles northwest of Borger on Wednesday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Investigators said that at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on RM 1319 at an “unsafe speed” along a curve in the roadway. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Madison Harris, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times.

One of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle as the vehicle ended up on its side in a field east of RM 1319. The ejected passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the Texas DPS, Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. The department confirmed that Kaitlyn Harris, 16, and Jeslyn Harris, 14, were also pronounced dead at the scene. The girls were sisters and lived in Sanford.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Texas DPS.

"SFISD wishes to express condolences to the Harris family, as they have experienced such a tragic loss. There will be counselors and clergy available on the SFHS and SFJH campuses for any staff and/or students who need to speak to someone today," the Sanford-Fritch Independent School District said on its Facebook page.
