Road rage shooting in Amarillo leaves 8 year old injured

Late Friday evening, an 8 year old boy was shot during a road rage incident in Amarillo.

Amarillo police officers drove up on what appeared to be an accident. The driver of one of the vehicles told police officers his 8 year old son had been shot in the head by a man in the other vehicle involved in this incident.

After his son was shot, the father chased down the shooter's vehicle and forced it off the road.

As officers were talking to witnesses at the scene, they determined the shooting started as a road rage incident. 

The 8 year old child was transported to an area hospital. 

Investigators said the suspect was removed from his vehicle and transported to an area hospital. The other parties involved in this incident were treated at the scene. 

After being treated at the hospital for his injuries, Frankie Lee Haigood was arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail for aggravated assault w/ deadly weapon. 

This case is still under investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit.
