One person dead after officer involved shooting in Amarillo

Early Monday afternoon, Amarillo police officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1200 block of north Hill Street. 

Investigators said the driver of the vehicle, 26 year old Ernesto Drew Pena, brandished a handgun at officers. One of the APD officers fired a shot, striking Pena. 

Pena died from his injury. No officers were injured during the incident.
