One person arrested for illegal street racing and endangering a child

Early Sunday evening, Amarillo police officers were called to the intersection of northeast 3rd Avenue and north Buchanan Street on a crash involving two vehicles.

A blue Dodge Charger driven by Fernando Barrera Munoz, 26, had been northbound on Buchanan Street and struck a white Chevrolet pickup that had been westbound on northeast 3rd Avenue.

The 20-year-old driver of the pickup was transported and treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses to the accident observed several vehicles including the blue Dodge Charger racing north on Buchanan, running red lights, before striking the pickup truck.

There were three other passengers, a 25-year-old male, 24-year-old female, and 9-month-old female, in the Dodge Charger at the time of the accident.

Munoz was arrested for illegal street racing and endangering a child. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
