Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office arrest two men impersonating firefighters

Thursday afternoon, the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office was notified about two “firemen” collecting money at the intersection of I-40 and Ross. The two “firefighters” intentionally identified themselves as members of the Amarillo Fire Department by wearing AFD shirts hoping citizens would give them money.

The two men were able to collect a small amount of money before their operation was halted. Officials confirmed the men are not members of the Amarillo Fire Department.

By falsely representing themselves as public servants to benefit financially, the men were arrested. Please be aware of panhandlers asking for money and actual firefighters collecting donations for a cause.
